Which History, Which Memory?
How can we conduct a conversation between history and memory?
For me, myth has always been the boundary between history and memory—the distance between the external, documented narrative of an event and the personal, immediate narrative within.
In this collection, I have tried to point to a border that is suspended, a border that does not yet know to which side it belongs. It is a border that wanders between reality and imagination, seeking a path to recover its lost certainty. This is akin to the struggle and conflict experienced by the soul, mind, and body in a state of constant waiting.
The collection seeks to interrogate a condition we have all experienced: the state of waiting. Whether it is the wait of Odysseus to return home, Helen’s wait for her beloved’s return, or a more universal waiting for a stable, enduring state.
This photo collection was created at the Ithaca Art Residency. It includes 12 photos that for some reason cannot be uploaded to the site. Please contact me to see the works.
